The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018

On 1 October 2018, the new Regulations of activities involving animals came into force which changed the previous licensing regime for businesses involved in dog boarding which includes home boarding and day care. Anyone engaged in this activity must be licensed and it is against the law to operate such a business without a council license.

On our website you can compare dog walking businesses by the star rating which in England is given to them by their local licensing authority. We are the only website that allows you to do this. Other countries in the UK do not award a star rating.
Please note that not all Dog Walkers are required to be licenced. If a Dog Walker does not offer overnight or day boarding on their premises they are currently exempt from the current licencing laws. It is worth pointing out that licenced Dog Walkers receive at least one unannouced visit from their local authority during the period of their licence to ensure that they are complying with the law.

Dog Home Boarding
When you go on holiday and you want your dog to have a similar experience to that which they enjoy at home then you should consider dog home boarding as an alternative to kennels. Whilst in the care of a home boarder your dog will be treated as a member of the family and will soon settle down to the family’s routine.
Kennels offer a different experience which some dog owners prefer, they tend to be cheaper and can accommodate dogs that home boarders tend not to board.
On our website you can compare dog boarding businesses by the star rating which in England is given to them by their local licensing authority. We are the only website that allows you to do this. Other countries in the UK do not award a star rating.

Doggy Day Care
Once doggy day care could be provided by just about anyone and without oversight. That is no longer the case and it is now totally regulated. To operate an unlicensed dog day care business is against the law and carries hefty penalties. On our website you can compare doggy day care businesses by the star rating which in England is given to them by their local licensing authority. We are the only website that allows you to do this. Other countries in the UK do not award a star rating.

Dog Rehoming

If you are reading this, it is likely that you want to know more about rehoming a dog from a rescue centre!
From your first visit to a rehoming centre to potentially taking home a four-legged friend, the centre is there to help as much as it can. If there is anything the staff can do to help you they will.

If you are not wanting to own a dog on a permanent  basis, some rehoming centres often look for foster carers for their dogs until a permanent home for them can be found.
